"Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought." - Percy Bysshe Shelley
Biswajit's poems bring these lines to mind whenever they are read. These poems demand to be read over and over again because they express the most basic and honest human emotion - pain. Every poem is beautifully woven and the reader finds himself transported to a place where words and feelings cease to be two different entities and merge into one.

EMPTY HEARTBEATS
I stare into the white walls of space
The incandescent lights
An indestructible chill
Ornate tile
The creepy nights
The long silent corridors
The shriveled skin
The blood stains
Lingering heartbeats
The empty eyes
Hidden arms
an over-sized blue gown
A small white wristlet
and your nervous sweat.
I wish I could just say,
“It's okay- this happens everyday!”
Quarantine
Tangled mind
In ruffled thoughts
Stands undefined
Holding on to darkness
Gasping and motionless
Spiraling in never-ending tunnels
I'm walking in a cloud of fog
Falling down,
Sinking into smog
A barren moor haunts the eye
Agony of melancholy
With darkness all around
Evil fills the void within
There is not much stigma
For this serious mental bug
Because I am a lifeless
And a walking corpse,
How would you ever understand
Why I want my death to be
Much before the planned
It's not something I want for me
But to end the torment,
This is what it has to be.
Life of a Silhouette
Twilight just about faded
Temple bells yet a far cry
But night descended,
So did the nightmare
Some term it reality
Others believe it their fate
But everything is so obscure.
The nascent skin scorched,
Where clothes were tethered
Now lay in crumple,
Which once was her ensemble
The blood her face had masked,
Now lay dried and brittle
The blue depths of the eyes,
now swath in fiery flood
Dead was her mind within
her living body, she lives
the life of a silhouette
Today battling for her life
In the pristine sheets and green corridors
Was hardly a ten-year old
It was like yesterday
Just finished her play
With the mother at bay
Dragged into the dinge and grim
Lay slaughtered but alive
Alive to live the clash
The clash between whether to live or not to
Fractured Soul
No bump, not anymore
No prams for us
No touching of the baby bums
No inquisitive questions
A son? A daughter? Who knows?
No words can be found
Smiling parents don't mean to hurt
Physical pain wouldn't pain as much
Hopes, dreams clogged in their tracks
My world was ripped from under my feet
All left now is melancholy remorse and pain
Vacant eyes, lost soul
No breath
No sound
No presence
They say time is a healer
But it’s long enough now, when
we had to say goodbye
afore we could say hello;
Wish we'd told you
how much we wanted to see you
Endeavouring to move forward
A step everyday
This is natural they say
Nightmare
Transient... swiftly passes
Most mornings are thus for me
Wide awake now, not even bothered
to look at what happened during the night
and all former nights,
All that would bring would be
Darkness and pain
that I have been trying to escape since years
like nightmares at times
Not the same affectionate fingers
When he touched me that night, the very first time
As he played with my hair
As he touched my waist
And went further down
till I gagged
I screamed
that escaped not my lips,
all fraying ends
whispered to me
Why would a man do it to nother!?
Anger that built
No one can see
Loneliness that makes me
No one comprehends
Pain that kills
No one can feel
Sorrow that consumes
No one can sense
Perhaps it was a twist of fate
I strived for a moment of peace
All I got was a fleeting fleece
Something from my inside says,
Wake up man
Cut off
Stop holding on to the ruins of glass
That rupture the subtle tissue
On your fingertips
Put on a mask
Don't let him know you're lifeless inside
Your job here is to
Make him believe you're still alive.

ABOUT THE POET
![]() |
Biswajit Tripathy |
Currently working as the Head-IT for Telenor India's operation in Bihar based out from Patna.
I used to write short stories during my school days just to see my names in school magazines, that was in late seventies. After a long hiatus, restarted writing during 1994-97 when my poems were being published in Asian Age when they started their newspaper. Subsequently career and family took the front seat but I was in touch with writings through my blogs and movie reviews in various websites including IMDB.
During 2002-03, I wrote a book called "Blueprints for a successful Presentation" which is available for free download in net.
The poet in me was reborn sometime in Nov'2014 when a very dear friend of mine encouraged me to start writing again. Here I and here are my poems. Hope you will like it to encourage me writing more and more.
When not writing, I click pictures and have founded Bihar Photography, a group of photo enthusiasts from around Bihar. Apart from that I am also into painting, art and crafts, love reading books and hear songs with appealing lyrics.
